Remembering Tabitha and Baby Kenny….

Remembering Tabitha and Baby Kenny….

No parent wants to hear the daunting news that their child has taken their life as well as a second child has died. I find myself in that position Tuesday July 17, 2018 as I am mourning the deaths of my daughter Tabitha, and my youngest son, Kenneth (known as Baby Kenny).

Thoughts and prayers are with yours truly, daughters Samantha, Ashli, Tiffani; and son, Kalvin during this difficult time.

Tabitha E. Zinn (2003-2018)

March 27, 2003 - July 17, 2018

Tabitha Ellen Zinn, 15, Marion, died at 3:30 pm at her sister’s home. She had taken her life after suffering from years of bullying.

Tabitha was born on March 27, 2003 in Marion, Indiana to Frank Zinn (now Aeverine “Ava” (Zinn) Nieves) and Angela (Willis) Zinn. She grew up in Marion and attended Mississinewa Community Schools and recently completed her freshman year.

Tabitha was a uplifting daughter, a damn good sister, and recently became an auntie in June 2018. She had a great smile and loved to be loyal. She was very close to her immediate family and enjoyed talking to her siblings and friends. She loved working with her father and loved journalism.

Tabitha had experienced intense emotional and psychological pain most people her age will never know, yet her father knew first hand. Throughout the last four years of her life, she experienced continual transition and intense bullying at school. While the news is currently highlighting violence as the result of bullying. The support systems of Tabitha’s saw a very different result that no parent ever wants to deal with. Those who loved Cherish didn’t know how bad unbearable that pain she was experiencing had become for her. The support and love she was able to receive from those around her wasn’t enough to heal the scars of the relentless bullying she had already suffered. Tabitha didn’t harm others or turn to drugs, cigarettes, opioids, and/or alcohol nor to deal with her pain, she took her life on the afternoon of July 17, 2018.

The word bullying doesn’t begin to encompass ugliness and pain it causes. The ugly truth of bullying is someone who loved Tabitha had to open the bedroom door and see what they saw on Tuesday. The ugly truth of bullying is those who loved Tabitha can’t close their eyes at night because they can’t get the image out of their head. The ugly truth of bullying is doing CPR for 4 minutes and 26 seconds. It’s listening to 911 operator tell you to go faster and push harder. It’s knowing that you didn’t open the door early enough for it to matter anyway.

Aeverine Zinn Holdings and the Zinn Family lost a great member of their family. Tabitha was a beautiful soul who is not suffering any pain and rejection.

Tabitha’s family and her support systems want the American public to be aware of bullying in hopes that it will prevent tragedies like Braylee Rice and Tabitha’s from happening again. If you are a parent, please talk to your children and find answers to hard questions such as being bullied, being a bully, witnessing heartbreaking bullying and/or taking part in bullying in some way. Tabitha’s father, Ava, is asking you as a fellow parent to teach your children to learn from the mistakes made from your parents and stand up for what is right.

To those of you who were kind to Tabitha, we sincerely like to thank you. Your love and acceptance meant the world to her. To Tabitha, thank you for coming into all of our lives and it will not be the same without you.
