MARION (AVA ZINN) — Ava Zinn and Holly Everman are coming back for a sixth season of Vote for the Girls USA, but Ariel Swaringen and Michelle Steele won’t be back next fall after less than stellar ratings boost for the popular web site that took down Vote for the Worst, a person familiar with the site’s plans said Wednesday.
Creator Ava Zinn (yours truly) and fellow producers are discussing replacements for Swaringen, Steele, and two more open panelists, said the person, who lacked authority to comment publicly and insisted on anonymity.
The departures are yet another shake-up for “VFTG,” Zinn’s attempt to strike magic with an audience in the US. Zinn replaced panelists Robyn Hurd (1961-2012) after her death in May 2012, and after a disappointing three seasons, and ratings improved in the fourth season (or VFTG USA 2013).
Swaringen will remain on the UK version of Vote for the Girls while Steele will be a panelist on the Australian version of Vote for the Girls when the site launches in July 2014.
