FORT WAYNE, IN (August 11, 2022) — Ava Zinn, yours truly, announced today she is considering filing an injunction against Black Pine Flats (formerly Brendonwood Park Apartments) after being notified on June 10, 2022 that the lease agreement is not being renewed. Ava Zinn immediately at that time applied to Golfview Apartments and was set to relocate to Golfview after September 16, 2022 via the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) approval from Fort Wayne Housing Authority (FWHA).
On August 10, 2022, Golfview Apartments informed Ms. Zinn via telephone that the apartment would not be ready until after November 2022. That news is not sitting well with Ava, her cat Caprice, and dog Ella as was the aforementioned non-renewal notifcation.
Ava Zinn has been struggling to find funding totaling $2,600 for first month rent ($675), security deposit ($675), pet deposit ($600, obtained July 13 and August 3), and moving expenses via GoFundMe in order to move from Black Pine Flats to Golfview Apartments.
“This morning, after speaking to Chris Baumgartner from Indiana Legal Services in Fort Wayne via email in regards to when I move out of Black Pine Flats and move to Golfview Apartments, I may decide to exercise my option of the reasonable accommodation request (unable to move out due to a mental disability) under the Fair Housing Act as a condition of a settlement/transitional agreement.
It was unfortunate that I am having to take this step, of which I believe is now necessary,” said Ava Zinn in a Facebook post.
This inspired a ”Caprice & Ella” 13-part miniseries called ”Breaking Boiling Point”, which will air from November 11 to November 28, 2022. The trailer was released on August 10 and is a parody of the 1993 HBO film “Strapped.”
Zinn added, ”By taking legal action, I am protecting what I believe is the best decision necessary to stop possible eviction as things at Golfview are being ironed out.”
