The Australian version of the popular web site based on the American version, which has produced the victories of Emma Freedman and Ellie Drennan, will be first and last due to declining ratings and inconsistent viewership on the YouTube channel.
The final episode will be the Grand Final of The X Factor Australia (which began its seventh season last night) pending the number of female contestants remaining, Aeverine Zinn Holdings and NoSirGifts Syndication announced Friday.
The Australian version of VFTG will join the Thailand version as the only Vote for the Girls franchises that have been canceled or not renewed. In Thailand, the site has three consecutive losses that lead to Thia Tola relocating from Thailand to the United States after failure produce a female winner of “The Star.” In Australia, the site’s YouTube episodes faltered in the ratings and it is one of the factors that lead to the web site’s cancellation. While the Australian version was one of the most anticipated of 2015, it has failed to deliver on the viewership and continues to see massive drops in the viewers week-to-week, despite the recent Vote for the Girls victory of Emma Freedman on the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars breaking an eight-year curse.
Vote for the Girls creator Ava Zinn said, ” I invested so much time and money into this project and with disputes in the United States, everyone is just kind of baffled at how poorly the site doing.”
A replacement for the web site will most likely be an uncensored from the American version.
